New Year, New Designer: Louis Mariette

Wilton has discovered a great British accessory designer!

Based in the classy neighborhood of Chelsea in London, Louis Mariette launched his eponymous brand in 2007. While the Brits love hats, Louis Mariette is no exception by bringing to life his passion for headpieces through his creations.

His unique headpieces have been recognized by the fashion world and are often used in editorials for the likes of Vogue, Elle, Vanity Fair, Marie Claire, You & Your Wedding… among other publications. So far Louis Mariette has worked with some of the biggest stars in Fashion such as Jerry Hall, Lily Cole, Lady Gaga or Kate Moss.

 

More specifically, Louis Mariette is well-known for introducing a very innovative concept: the frosting. It consists of dipping the jewels in acid to obtain a mat effect. The result is blow-minding! Check for yourself:

Louis Mariette is also known for offering a wide range of colored hair accessories to match your bouquet for instance.

Awards Season 12: People’s Choice Awards

The Awards season has officially kicked off with the People’s Choice Awards. And the best dressed are:

In each evening gown we can really see the style and the distinct touch of the designer that can also be found in their wedding creations.

Oscar de la Renta is a very fashion forward and couture designer. His 20′s inspiration dress has all the right amount of glamour and sophistication adding a fun twist with the fringes.

Reem Acra always puts the emphasis on the fit which is incredible by looking at the actress. The bustier is the new “Reem bustier” she introduced in bridal and that is very present in her Fall 2012 bridal collection (in stores in June 2012).

As for Jenny Packham she always stays true to herself with glitter, deep v-necks and open backs in order to shine on the red carpet.

Now that the battle of the dresses has just started, we cannot wait to see what the season will unfold!

Color of the Year 2012

Each year Pantone, the color matching system, releases the “color of the year” which will influence well, everyone in general, and all creatives in particular.

 

2012 is the year of “tangerine tango”

 

 

 

How to integrate it in your wedding: in flowers, all elements of decoration (napkins, tablecloth…) and of course you can always add a nice tangerine tango belt to your dress and ask your groom to wear a matching bow tie.

Daring in Oscar de la Renta

At the American Music Awards last month, singer and pop sensation Nicki Minaj wore a very daring Oscar de la Renta’s ensemble.

She had a two piece combining a green taffetas picked-up skirt with a black lace top, she stole from the Designer’s Spring 2012 runway show.
The New-York based couturier adapted this look for his bridal collection (Fall 2012).

Would you dare to wear such a gown on your wedding day?
