Happy First Year Anniversary Will & Kate!

It is time to celebrate the Royal couple’s cotton anniversary.
Their wedding was last year’ biggest event and all eyes were on THE dress, certainly one of the best kept secret of the Kingdom…

Many knock-offs were created afterwards and we even spotted one at Barcelona’s 2011 Bridal Fair:

The best tribute to Sarah Burton’s creation, is from Reem Acra: The Lebanese designer created a Kate’s gown of her own in silk gazar and lace with long train (but not as long as the original).

Kate’s second dress was simpler like gown BL1203 from Monique Lhuillier’s Bliss line: a sweetheart A-line in organza with an embellished belt to highlight the natural waist, perfect and straight to the point.

This simply reminds us of the fact that the now Duchess of Cambridge looked flawless… Happy first anniversary Will & Kate, may it be the first of endless ones!!!

Trend Alert: Laser-Cut

We have noticed recently on the red carpet and runway shows that laser-cut dresses were making their way into the big scene…

Last October, laser-cut dresses were the big star of Louis Vuitton’s ready-to-wear Spring 2012 collection; and later on, cutie Elle fanning was seen wearing one of Marc Jacob’s creations (LV’s creative director) at a movie premiere.

And very recently, both Heidi Klum and Diana Aragon wore elaborated and colored laser-cut dresses by Giles Deacon.

Why such a success?

Fashion is constantly evolving and innovating in the techniques and laser-cut offers elaborated detailing. It allows to obtain complex decorations and shapes on multiple fabrics with extra clean finishings; the result is perfect.

Reem Acra transposed it to Bridal with a very romantic dress she named “Layers of love” which says it all…

Paris Paris – Part III: the Frenchies

This is where our Parisian journey ends but to end it on a high note, we finished our tour with French designers.

First with the well appraised Delphine Manivet. This French designer is soaring and is becoming the master of the “boho” look she introduced five years ago. We went to her cosy boutique in the art galleries area on the fancy “Rue du Faubourg St-Honoré”.
With saw Lily Allen’s wedding dress on the window display!! This dress is typical of Delphine Manivet; it is made from dentelle de Calais, a refined French Lace and has this feel Parisian girls have: the “effortless look”. Delphine Manivet’s designs truly reflects this Parisian spirit (btw I’m Parisian too) and also France’s undeniable strength: couture, because every dress is made in France (which is a very sought after designation in the Industry).

We have noticed that new designers have flourished in DM’s footsteps and Stephanie Wolff is one of them. We visited her in her small atelier after climbing these typical stairs that I love so much…

Stephanie Wolff also mainly works with lace and she does it well. She is getting bigger by the day, so she is definitely one to look after.

What do you think of the “hobo” – “boho” style, would you wear it? Tell us what you think by commenting this post, or by sending us comments on our Facebook Profile, our Facebook Page or our Twitter account, we cannot wait!!!

As one trip ends, another is coming so be prepared for the next episode coming soon

Tip On How to Find the Perfect Dress 2

The best piece of advice we will ever be able to give you:

READ CAREFULLY!

Finding THE dress, I mean YOUR dress requires starting looking at least 8 months in advance…

If you did not know it, wedding dresses are made on order meaning you never actually buy the dress in the shop, you order a new one.
So the dress becomes yours because the designer makes it especially for you!

In terms of timing you have to take in consideration the fact that gowns take between 4 to 5 months to make, then you need extra time for alterations. So 6 months is the very least and 8 is an optimum. But please remember you are never too early and if you come a year in advance; on the contrary, it will allow you to focus on other wedding preps such as decoration, invitations etc.

Your dress will always be your dress so the time when you pick it out does not matter so much. What matters though is to look gorgeous on your big day with your prince charming by your side, and to do so you need your dress…

…the sooner the better for a happy ending.

And don’t forget to SPREAD THE WORD!!!

Paris Paris – Part II: Fashion Designers

Following the first episode of our Parisian adventure, here we are trying to discover new things whether it is a new designer or a new trend…

Curiosity pushed us to visit British latest sensation: Matthew Williamson. He really made a name for himself in ready-to-wear and is now diving into bridal.
His best asset: wedding gowns for destination weddings especially with his signature bridal gown: the “Parachute” dress.

Matthew Williamson showcased his new ready-to-wear and a preview of his new Bridal collection in a nice Parisian loft in the trendy neighborhood of Le Marais. The showroom had this industrial feel with big spotlights and a glass roof typical of the 19th century which added a great value to the collection.

To tease before the actual bridal collection is officially launched, WM introduced a new version of his famous Kaftan dress with an open back, sequins and fringues! And to match his beautiful creations, he also proposed accessories such as clutches, bracelets or headbands… by the way, we love the display on the sunglasses!

Then we headed “south” visiting the Italian brand Azzaro. First (good) surprise was to see Alexandra Lamy’s dress she wore at the Oscars hanging, what a beauty! For those who don’t know her name, she is the lovely wife of Actor Jean Dujardin.

Azzaro offers perfect fitted long and short silk jersey dresses with a detail of jewelry, and next season (A/W 12) it will be a little bird and his feathered wing. We even fell in love with a short dress with lace accents at the front, which could have been perfect for the party after the ceremony or the civil ceremony…

…but all these beautiful creations are only available in dark colors (black, dark fuchsia, crimson and navy blue), so sadly we have to pass and move on to the next designers, the Frenchies.

To know more, stay tuned for the 3rd and last episode!

Paris Paris

Paris will always be Paris… the fashion capital of the world!

After traveling to the best fashion cities New-York, Milan and Barcelona, it was time to go to Paris the city of lights, and unfortunately sometimes the city of Rain.

In the dynamic created by the Fashion Week, other fashion events happened such as Tranoï, the ready-to-wear fair showcasing super edgy brands from all around the world such as April May, Gat Rimon, le Mont St-Michel, Majestic, Dannijo, Dice Kayek, Indress, Isharya, Nocollection, Olympia-le-tan, Swildens, etc. Tranoï also helps discover tomorrow’s next best brands.

As we were not allowed to take pictures and did not feel like being kicked out, we, instead, brought back a souvenir of the very cool fair’s setting in the “Carrousel du Louvre”. The entrance of the fair was decorated by French Photographer and Artist Gilles Ouaki with his exhibition “I lock you”, which is an ode to love…

And NO I couldn’t shop for myself at Tranoi – bummer! – so on the next episode we will focus on bridal fashion designers…

To be continued

Natalie Portman is Married!

Natalie Portman has secretly wed the father of her son… and revealed it to the world on the Oscars night; indeed her now husband was wearing a wedding band on his “important” finger.

What a revelation!!!

Now we are waiting for the pictures of her wedding dress to surface!!!!!!!

In the meantime let’s share our predictions: since she is the face of Dior and unsurprisingly wore one of the Designer’s creation to the Oscars, we can only assume that her wedding dress is from the French House.

By her recent looks on the red carpet (her Lanvin Golden Globes’ dress and her Dior Vintage Oscars’ dress) we chose a vintage Dior dress in silk and cotton. Natalie Portman is very soft and quite sober in many ways so the “Phyllis” dress from the Spring/Summer 1953 collection would be a perfect fit:

Now, if we had to dress Natalie Portman we would go for something slightly more ethereal because she is very romantic… so the best option would be soft tulle as in the dress “I am Blown Away” by Reem Acra. The drapery at the front and the flowers are reminiscent of the 20′s and bring a vintage feel to this delicate A-line dress.

Whatever she wore, we are 100% sure she looked gorgeous and most of all… happy!
