DRESS OF THE MONTH 2012-2011   2010

MARCH

GIADA from MONIQUE LHUILLIER

Queen of Holywood glamour, Monique Lhuillier dazzles us yet again with her couture gown Giada.

A one piece sheath, Giada combines Monique's signature fully beaded bustier and trumpet skirt. Multitude of Swarovski crystals and pearls turn the encrusted corset into a true jewel, which shows off the cleavage with its the sweatheart neckline. The cleverly fashioned motif of organza embroidery on the skirt has a slimming effect as it contours the female curves and cascades down the front like a waterfall.

FEBRUARY

GHILLIAN from VERA WANG

Vera Wang's Ghillian is an extravagant ball gown for a bold, exhibitionist bride, who is at heart a modern princess.

This gown represents one of the designer's signature studies in contrasts. The frothiness of the skirt, which is made up of chrysanthemum blossoms in varying shapes and sizes, is set off by a very sculpted, asymmetrical drop-waist bodice, which molds and shapes the sexy curves of the body, thanks to its matte faille fabric. Hundreds of yards of fabric used in the rosettes bring in Vera Wang's words "effervescence and weightlessness that envelopes the bride,..., just like the way a blooming garden surrounds you with its evening fragrance."

JANUARY

ANTIFAZ from ROSA CLARA

With Antifaz every bride will find the understated elegance of Jackie O.

Crisp, clean lines are at the heart of Antifaz' s minimal design. Rosa Clara's use of silk brocade for this simple modified A-line gown gives it a luxurious streak and makes an emphatic statement. The flower pattern of the fabric shimmers in the light and adorns the skirt with the train. The gown is complemented with a T-shirt bolero from the same fabric, whose bateau neckline, small bows and buttons down the back are all details appreciated greatly by the First Lady.

DECEMBER

92E25 from OSCAR DE LA RENTA

Another exceptional gown by the master of bridal, Oscar de la Renta!

The gown 92E25 is all about volume and organza. The draping of the sweetheart bustier gives the gown structure and support, whilst bringing the contrast to the voluminous skirt, layered diagonally with organza ruffles. The movement of the ruffled skirt will swirl you during your unforgettable day, like a modern princesse. The originality and uniqueness of this ballgown makes it a true masterpiece of Oscar de la Renta.

NOVEMBER

LARA TWO from ROSA CLARA

The very Spanish Lara by Rosa Clara brings a warm touch to this month of November.

Being part of the sister line TWO, this dress is created entirely from Spanish re-embroidered lace. The dense embroidery on the bustier delicately scatters down the full skirt like falling flakes. Despite the strong character of lace and voluminous skirt, Lara is still very romantic thanks to the sweatheart neckline and the buttons that run down the back. To finish off the look and cover up the shoulders, a fur cape would be ideal as Lara's accessory.

OCTOBER

WILLOW from JENNY PACKHAM

The best way to embrace the arrival of autumn is to sparkle in Jenny Packham's newest gown Willow!

The designer, who is the queen of red carpets, perfectly masters everything that glows. The dress is made from tulle re-embroidered with sequins and small flowers, and outlines beautifully the silhouette. The draped V-neckline accentuates the bust, whilst the satin sash underlines the natural waist, and finishes off with a lovely bow at the back. Following the tradition of showcasing the back, Jenny Packham's Willow is no exception, as the back of this dress is delicately covered by a transparent layer of tulle with an opening in the middle in a form of a drop. All these details make this gown a truly elegant creation.

SEPTEMBER

ETERNITY from MONIQUE LHUILLIER

Monique Lhuillier will be your best companion to enter this season in style!

The gown Eternity is a two piece ensemble, with a separate skirt and a bustier, a signature element of this american designer. The tulle corset, elaborately embellished with pearls and flowers is the fashion statement piece of the season. The trumpet skirt made from princess satin in honey highlights the silhouette, as well as the waist thanks to the complementary sash in the same colour. This style has all the details of a classic Monique Lhuillier gown: the corset, the draping of the skirt, the modern edge, without forgetting the glamourous finishing of the fabric!

AUGUST

JONQUIL from REEM ACRA

Reem Acra's Jonquil dress carries very well its name, pays tribute to one of the most happy flowers.

Let yourself be lost in this multitude of blooming flowers, which decorate the sweetheart bustier with sparkly crystals. This ballgown is very soft and romantic, and suits very well for this summer month. The skirt is made entirely of soft, light tulle, whilst the waist is perfectly accentuated by a taupe belt with a gorgeous crystal brooch that make every bride shine.

JULY

ALESSIA from JENNY PACKHAM

The dress Alessia is at the height of glamour and is without a doubt a pure creation of Jenny Packham, one of the most prominent red carpet designers of the moment.

Whether it's the plunging open back that shows off only the essentials or the silk charmeuse that hugs the feminine silhouette, Alessia assembles all the elements that will attract all the glances on you. Between glamour and sophistication, thanks to the jeweled ornaments that adorn the front of the dress, Alessia will be your best asset on your wedding day.

JUNE

AGARA from PRONOVIAS

The dress Agara from Pronovias is a statement dress that has a great effect. This short dress is ideal for civil and playful weddings, and is perfect for the second halves of the wedding parties, when the bride wanted to slip on something more comfortable, without a train, without losing the presence.

Very much in vogue, Agara's asymmetrical one shoulder ruffle detail underlines two of the biggest fashion trends of spring/summer 2011. The waist is underlined with a beaded belt, which is quite discreet and well suited for daytime. Agara can transform itself into a gorgeous satin cocktail dress and make you shine if you accessorize it with a crystal belt.

MAY

DELANEY from VERA WANG

In May, do as you please and go for the lightness of Delaney. This dress, entirely made out of silk tulle, only appears to be simple, but is in fact very sophisticated in its details. The corset's soft yet intricate draping shows off perfectly Vera Wang's elaborate work. The waist is beautifully highlighted by the drop-waist bustier along with Vera Wang's signature grosgrain bow sash.

Delaney is tinged with a certain romantic aura thanks to the softness of tulle, and it's silhouette, which oscillates between a sheath and a modified A-line.

APRIL

ELITE from ROSA CLARA

Rosa Clara's Elite is the new version of a ball gown with a drop down waist, which elongates beautifully any silhouette.

The impeccable cut of the bodice, intricately framed in a point d'esprit lace, transforms every bride into a statuesque figure. The voluminous skirt is simple yet grand, finished with a lacy trim all around to evoke the detailing of the bodice. Rosa Clara's signature bow adds a little romantic touch to this elegant ball gown.

MARCH

22E52 from OSCAR DE LA RENTA

Oscar de la Renta is the master of couture when it comes to bridal.

This off-white silk faille gown, with a rose detailing on the shoulder, is the newest example. The strict, architectural cut of this gown is very stylish and bold. The dramatic effect of the train and the contrasting folds are accentuated even more when the gown is accessorised with opera gloves, a clutch and perhaps a little veiled hat.

FEBRUARY

LAERTES from ELIE SAAB

With Laertes Elie Saab has yet again done the impossible – he created a fairy wedding gown.

Voluminous and airy, this strapless tulle ball gown, is adorned with delicate flower appliqués which embellish the bustier and then gradually fade out on the skirt and all around the back. The soft, magical look of this gown will turn any bride into a modern day princesse.

JANUARY

AURORA from VERA WANG

Vera Wang's gown Aurora is a delicate fusion of an empire bodice and a clean A-line skirt.

Created from duchess satin, a heavy structural material, Aurora embodies understated elegance. Having kept the cut minimal, Vera Wang adds pep to this gown through her use of colour. She choses metallic hue for the duchess satin, whilst the empire draping is embellished with aquamarine jeweled corsage. The bride's waist is underlined beautifully by Vera Wang's signature black grosgrain bow at the back.
