"I have always felt that my role as a designer is to make a woman feel her very best. A wedding gown will live for generations in photographs. It is probably the most important dress that a woman will ever wear."
Oscar de la Renta
Oscar de la Renta is one of the world’s pre-eminent designers. Of Dominican origin, De la Renta acquired a true savoir-faire in haute couture at an early stage by working with leading European designers such as Cristobal Balenciaga in Madrid and Lanvin's Antonio del Castillo in Paris. When Oscar de la Renta returned to New York in 1963, he spent a few years designing haute couture and ready to wear collections for Elizabeth Arden, before starting his own fashion house in 1965.
He was the recipient of CFDA awards (Council of Fashion Designers of America) in 1993, 2000 and 2007. His passion and devotion to creating the most extraordinary clothes for modern women has become stronger through the years.
Oscar de la Renta's signature bridal collection, which launched in 2006, includes a full range of gowns and accessories including veils, shoes, fashion jewellery and bags. Known for his use of intricate embroidery, beautiful fabrics and incredible detail, de la Renta's wedding gowns are a pure embodiment of femininity and romance.
